I have attached the RDOS Lake Assessment project for Vaseux Lake which will look at both water quality and the sedimentation of the lake. The RDOS has received $25,440 for the first phase of the Project as outlined in the attachment.
An RFP will be going out very soon and I need to provide feedback on what exactly we would like to have assessed.
Please provide your input and I will forward it to the RDOS. I am also working with Jim D’Andrea of Noble Ridge to create the Vaseux Lake Home Owners’ Association. I have been in contact with Christina Lake as an example of an association that we could use.
I will be sending an email to Linda Larson our MLA to express our frustration with the lack of any advancement in the final phase of the Okanagan Fall’s treatment plant. The land has been purchased but nothing else has been completed. This means our lake is subjected to chemical inhibitors and heavy metals that otherwise could be filtered out through the parcel of land. I will request that she meet with Vaseux Lake homeowners to discuss why this is not moving forward in an expedited manner. The plant has now been up and running for 4 years without all its filtering components in place.
Finally, the Okanagan Water Board is still waiting for the permit from the Provincial Ministry to allow the Rototiller in the lake this year to deal with the milfoil. It will be made very clear that the homeowners are expecting that the commitment to have the rototiller in our lake this year will be carried out. Let me know if you have any comments or concerns that I may have overlooked.
Thanks,
Norm
