A public meeting will be held at 6 PM on Saturday, August 23rd, 2017 at the Oliver Community Center to allow area residents to discuss their concerns about the flooding that occurred in the area this spring.
This meeting was initiated by Terry Schafer, the Area C director with the RDOS, after Norm Gaumont complained that there seemed to be no rationale for the length of time it was taking to reduce our lake back to normal and there has been very little communication from the Province on this issue.
Indeed, a number of residents on Vaseux Lake still have their properties sandbagged in late August.
The bags will have to remain in place until next spring, as the lake wasn’t lowered soon enough for residents to arrange for shoreline reinforcements after losing 3 to 4 feet of shoreline.
Affected residents are encouraged to attend the meeting this Saturday to talk about their concerns.
