The Vaseux Lake Stewardship Association Board met on Tuesday September 10th and set the date for the Annual Meeting on the 21st September between 2:00 and 4:00PM at my residence at 216 Sundial Rd. Oliver, BC.
This meeting will include an election for the Board members, the Chair and Vice Chair for the Vaseux Lake Stewardship Association.
If you are interested in any of the position please let me know. The Board is encouraging as many members as possible to attend the meeting on the 21st so please let me know if you will attend as we will be arranging refreshments.
I have attached a letter that was sent to the Province and Federal Governments relating to getting the Rototiller in our lake.
It should be noted that all mayors and other Associations in the Okanagan also sent letters requesting the continued use of the rototiller in areas where the Rocky Mountain Mussel has been located.
The Federal Government has decided not to put the Rocky Mountain Mussel on the endangered list but the Province still refuses to allow the rototiller in our lake because of the mussel.
The Board will now request to have the harvester in the lake for late July/early August of 2020 to cut the milfoil since the rototiller will not be permitted.
Finally, it is that time of year where we are collecting the $20.00 yearly fee.
If you have not paid yet please either pay on line through paypal at vaseuxlake.com or pay any of the board members.
We appreciate the ongoing support and will continue to work to improve Vaseux Lake.
Thanks,
Norm Gaumont
